I’m 35 and I’m trying to retrain myself to fight but given my age and the amount of time I would need to properly prepare for a fight, I think my fighting days are over. I think Age, nowadays with diets and exercise and new technologies, is not a realy good metric anymore. If you take care of your body, train correctly, have a good lifestyle and diet, the only limitation is when your body says "Stop man, it's over". If you feel good, resistant, energetic, don't worry about age. I began Muay Thai 3 months ago and I turned 29 last month. My goal is to have at least a professional fight in Thailand. So I might be old for competition standards, but if I want it, I'll deliver.

The short answer is no, you are never too old to start training Muay Thai. Alby began his Muay Thai training at the age of 27 and he knows people who are several decades older than him who have thrived after starting in their 30s, 40s, or 50s, though they did face some limitations. For people who are less interested in going pro and just want to learn self-defense, get in shape, and maybe compete in a few low-stakes competitions, there is no age limit. That said, it’s not all roses for people who start doing anything at an advanced age, especially martial arts. You Set the Pace No matter what your goals are, it’s important to speak with your instructor early on and tell them what you hope to achieve. While going pro may be too ambitious for those who begin training Muay Thai later in life, there is no age limitation for those who want to use Muay Thai as a way to get in shape, learn self-defense, and become part of a community.

I’m a firm believer that it’s never too late to start training Muay Thai. When you begin your Muay Thai training not only will you learn a beautiful and practical martial art, but you’ll also be improving the entire spectrum of your health, so why not give it a go?
No matter what the age, I always have the same answer, “It’s never too late to start training!”.
I’ve had people from as young as 18 years old all the way to 65+ ask if it’s “too late” to start training Muay Thai.
So now the question is, how old is too old to fight?
