Sparring is one of the most enjoyable aspects of martial arts training.

2) Range – this is the distance away from your opponent to effectively get a technique to work.
3) Timing – techniques shouldn’t be thrown at random hoping they’ll work.

It’s full contact.
Many styles suffer from a lack of full or hard contact sparring.
It forces you to have good kicks.
It forces you to combine kicks.
It makes you faster and more explosive.
It makes you more agile.
You stop blocking kicks with your hands.
It forces you to be good with both sides.
Olympic sparring has evolved Taekwondo away from its Shotokan method of using hand blocks for kicks to using superior footwork, body positioning, and counter angles to avoid kicks.
But make room for Olympic sparring, because it is an excellent game to increase your kicking ability.
