Do not crack a fellow teammate with lighter gloves. Don't be an asshole and break down their spirit during their first training session by throwing combo after combo while fully knowing they don’t know what to do. Don't go for the knockout. Don't go as hard with them if they only want to do technical sparring. If you’re not okay with the intensity, you should be verbal and ask to go lighter. Stop sparring and say you want to sit out the round if things get out of hand. Sparring should not be throwing attacks super slow and super light in a way that has no benefit to anyone. You don’t spar the same way with a beginner as you would with someone with 30 fights.

Don't let your ego take over. It's ok to take breaks when you need it. Fatigue tends to result in injuries that take you out of training. Don't expect to reap the benefits of sparring on an empty tank. One of the best ways to keep yourself safe and your partner safe is to match each other's pace while focusing on technique. Utilize what you've been taught in class. Concepts and principles like distance management and proper punching technique will help you be in control of yourself. Don't be afraid to switch it up if your food choices aren't working for you.

Don't turtle nonstop and one trick pony during sparring. Don't run all over the place, as this won't work in a real ring. Don't catch kicks without using any technique afterwards. Don't plow into your opponent, as this is against the rules. Don't abuse the circumstance that your opponent is kicking without power or at top speed. Don't increase power or speed to retaliate against an annoying opponent. Don't aim for your opponent's head, even if they're being abusive.
