The highest degree black belt in Taekwondo is typically a 9th or 10th degree black belt, which is referred to as a Grand Master or Kwan Jang Nim. A Taekwondo Grand Master is a highly respected and skilled individual who has achieved the highest rank in the martial art of Taekwondo. They have dedicated their life to the practice and study of Taekwondo, and are recognized as experts in the techniques and philosophy of the art. Grand Masters are typically leaders in the Taekwondo community and often own their own schools, where they share their knowledge and skills with others. The time it takes to become a Grand Master in Taekwondo can vary greatly, depending on various factors such as the individual's dedication and skill level, the school or organization they train with, and the specific requirements for advancement. On average, it may take 30-40 years or more of consistent training and competition to reach the rank of 9th or 10th degree black belt, but this is not a hard and fast rule. Ultimately, the journey to becoming a Grand Master is a long and dedicated process that requires a deep commitment to the art of Taekwondo.

The highest level of Black Belt in Taekwondo is the 9th Degree Black Belt which is typically awarded to those who have made a significant contribution to the art in some way. After a student has earned their black belt, their training does not end. In truth, the opposite is true. As with many other martial arts, once a student has achieved black belt, this is just the beginning of their journey to mastery in the art. Students who earn their 1st Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo will then continue to train to earn their 2nd Degree Black Belt and beyond. Each level increases in difficulty and requires a deeper knowledge of the art than the previous.
